The Game

 
Introduction
 

• Brave & Cherry is a 3D action oriented video game for PC, MAC and Linux.

• It's being developed with Unity 5 engine.

• It's as much of a game as of an artistic achievement due to its uniqueness.

• The game is being made while keeping in mind an age rating of 13+ as it might include some cartoon violence as well as some subjects that might not interest younger players.

 

In Brave & Cherry, you take the role of character with a cherry head as you move around a strange world which is contained in a refrigerator. The game controls cover both a keyboard & mouse and any controllers with at least 2 thumbsticks.

 

While the game includes some cartoon violence, it's still being developed so that it can be played by minors though some humor might not be understood by youngsters. The game is being developed with, in mind, a wide range of aged players that goes from 13 years old or more.

 

The Lore

 

Hades, god of the Underworld, has stolen the Cornucopia from Abundantia during the evening. As Hades knew about the unbreakable link between Cornucopia and all food in the world, he cursed the horn so that all food shall become rotten by the raise of the next sun. His goal, as always, is to bring hated and conflict over the world of mortals and as the world of mortal is our current modern world, food is one of the primary source of conflict and its destruction is certain to ensure some of the deadliest wars every seen by mortals.

 

Though the ignorance of Hades, Cornucopia actually have a soul and even through it couldn't oppose the curse, it was still able to channel some of Hades' power toward turning the curse into some something less potent. While all food could become rotten by the next raise of the sun, the curse can still be broken if its core is destroyed before the first rays of light. In every parts of the world, such cursed core exist where food is stored.

 

To ensure the destruction of the cursed cores, Cornucopia linked brave souls from the Underworld into fruits and vegetables which gave birth to worlds were food actually become more than alive. As the soul of men and women filled fruits and vegetable, their surroundings became something closer to the original world of mortals. This was as much help as the souls could get from the mystical horn and so these brave fruits and vegetables are now on the quest to destroy the cursed cores.

 

Game Controls

 

The controls in game were made to feel natural and follow a 2 layered logice :

 

1) The orientation of the controls is based on the point of view (the camera). by using the directional keys or thumbstick, you move the character in the direction pressed from your point of view.

 

2) The controls over the camera offers 2 possibilities. You can have a fixed view from the sky which is similar to many action RPG games on PC. This mode still allows you to turn the camera while holding a button. Or you could use a mobile view that moves based on your mouse or thumbstick movement/direction. This mode allows controls to feel a lot more like a 3rd person action game.

 

The game offers really little amount of complexity in the controls. You can run or walk, rolls or jump, use a weapon or a tool and interact with NPCs and enemies around the character. The game is being made based on past experience in player action & plateform games such as what you find in the early The Legend of Zelda series. While there aren't any kind of auto-aim or aim assist, the game is being made easy through its gameplay and controls layout. A more complex part might come from accessing the hidden content and searching outside of the main roads.
